We advised and handed publicity for this project. Born in Havana, Cuba, AfroRazones is a multimedia project and compilation album intended to archive new manifestations of Afro-Cuban identity through hip hop, R&B tracks and poetry. The album – which is out now – acts as one part of a greater archival process and seeks to shift the way many Cuban artists interact with the music they create. Stemming from a deep legacy on the island, the artists worked collaboratively out of DJ Jigüe’s Guampara Studios in Havana, Cuba to process and create knowledges around being Black in Cuba. We present the project at a time when Black people globally are thinking through questions of diaspora and belonging. Visit: AfroRazones.com
