I feel blessed to know I’ve been raised on the hip-hop of someone so fearless, so being herself while navigating this crazy digital and hip-hop era.
We’ll look back and realize how many fresh emcees there were from 1998 – 2014 era of awarding ignorance in the mainstream rap industry.
But the voices were always there.
Hoping that with the scaling back up of the truth from artists like Kanye West, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nitty Scott MC and voices like Jean’s – and all the baby rappers raised on these musics – will thrive.
Sounds like Jean Grae’s got her own plan to get on SNL and really shake things up by moving to the West Coast. We are all mirrors. We all evolve. Do it Jean, as a native New Yorker who has relocated to California, I can vouch that life is better here!
