Many are calling it the “Latino FYF,” the “Latin Coachella,” and even the U.S. version of “Vive Latino.” Los Angeles hasn’t seen anything like it in at least a decade. ” – LA Weekly

Though I couldn’t be at the Supersonico this past weekend in Los Angeles, I was so proud to see the positive response of Los Rakas set with a full band. Salute to the band director, Mr. Mars Today and DJ Ethos on the 1s & 2s.

Remezcla named them winners of the fest: “The band and genre-hopping between their hip-hop tracks and slow jams gave them a huge stage presence, like a badass funk band, and their audience grew larger with each song.

Universal Latino sent out this media alert describing the show: When the time came  for Los Rakas to hit the stage, fans rushed the indoor stage and could be seen and heard chanting “Los Rakas” in anticipation of their set. During their first song the ballroom was nearly full, however by the beginning of their third song, Los Rakas successfully managed to pack the room like no other! Truly a force to be reckoned with, Los Rakas have a unique ability to mix true root Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Afro-Latin, and Electronic beats with prolific lyrics and relevant bi-cultural influences that are in line with the current state of the music industry.
