Heard the track “This Love” (video below) from Si*Se’s upcoming EP ‘Gold‘ – full length to come in the fall, but the EP comes out on March 9th.  This song caught me –  funky bass, trembling tamborine, warm vintagey beat and Carol C’s sexy falsetto (sort of Minnie Ripperton-ish).  Def has a throw-back sound – like something Art Laboe would play on the ‘Quiet Storm’ but updated.

Si*Se is from NYC + make loungey electro down-tempo music. The band’s debut album came out in 2001 on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop and then came 2005’s “More Shine” on Fuerte/Universal.  Seems they have not released any new material in some time.  Carol C’s work with Nickodemus was funky – see Mariposa.

If you’re in NYC, they are playing March 12 at Le Poisson Lounge.  (Admittedly, I saw Si*Se once at the House of Blues in LA and was completely bored out of my mind. Maybe it was a bad night.)  This new track and energy seems super promising.   Can’t wait to hear more!

Did I just catch myself fake swaying and holding myself…as the boyfriend naps beside me? Oh yes I did.  Enjoy this song!
